This morning the last of our babies was taken to the Airport bound for Sydney. Little Scarlett now to be known as Suraiya (Suri) had been around here for quite some time, we had a difficult time saying goodbye to this little girl after so much bonding, her and Arley were great company for each other, she was a bit of a mum's girl too. She is adorable, so feminine, full of courage and drive, a very nicely put together compact bitch with such character, she will also hit the show ring. Luckily for her she gets to go and live with a few other Lappies at Snofyre Kennel and will settle in no time getting over it a lot quicker than us I am sure.
Little Rifle now to be known as Ruben flew out to Victoria this morning, he stayed with us a bit longer than most the others as his new family had commitments and wanted to make sure they could be around to settle him in when he arrived. We were more than happy to hold on to the little guy for a couple of extra weeks and so was his twin Scarlett, knowing he was a very lucky boy to have such a great home to go too. Tracy and Tony's dogs are an integral part of the family and they have owned a Lappie previously, he has a new brother in Curtis to play with. Ruben will try his paw at Obedience and later Agility as Tracy is an Instructer at her local club and he will get to catch up with Jacq's furkids, Emmi and Louis there as well.
Another puppy flying the coop today with 2 flights to get her to her destination. Princess Purple headed to Tasmania to live with Kathryn and Troy. She also has a family of dogs to keep her amused which include Tibetan Mastiffs. We look forward to hearing how this young full of beans, Miss 'look at me' show off goes in the ring, she is a lovely bitch with really nice conformation and movement.
Very early this morning our darling little man Dutchie (now Ludo) who is such a sweetie and wins everyone over with his charm had to take a very long trip to his forever home that involved 2 flights. I think it was as long for us as it was for him, we
just wanted word that he had arrived safe and sound. I knew this was the right home for him, he is going to enjoy life on acreage sharing it with a Border Collie, horses, guinea pigs, rabbit, cats and his human family. Liz is a Trainer so she has a few things install for young Ludo and I know he will blossom under her guidance.
Oct 23rd: Today our first puppy sadly left us; Cali, formerly Bel is going to be living here in SA so I will get to see her which I look forward to. It made it a lot easier to say goodbye to our smart, gorgeous boofa girl. Her lovely new family who picked her up around lunchtime have visited a couple of times as the litter were growing and we had met on a couple of occasions previously as well. Cali has a new brother in Billy to keep her company and we all hope they become great mates. Angie is Dog Groomer and a Trainer at her local Club so Cali will be set and is a quick learner. They may also give Dances with Dogs a go in the future which sounds like fun. In the meantime plenty of beach time and cliff walks will be in order considering it's something the family enjoy.
Ella with her ever growing babies, she loves being with them so much. I thought by now she would be very over them but she still loves playing with them all and teaching them manners. It is a joy to watch her teach them bite inhibition to develop a soft mouth, to share when they have toys, to submit to her and best of all, how to do zoomies using her track. She has brought them up so well which hopefully has helped give them the wings to learn to fly on their own once they leave.
Last night while we had the puppies out running around the lounge room Ella went and found her rubber dog and tucked it in for a feed up on the chair. Later I went to go to bed and she had taken it there, so I took it off her and put it up. Tonight I got it down and let it have a proper feed (photo on right), I'm not sure Ella was amused ;) When she has her phantoms she finds this one as it's her favourite. Last time she loved it, tried to let it feed and cleaned it like a good Mummy. Maybe she is wishing this litter was as easy as her soft toy litters, they weren't so demanding and never grew teeth.
